Are moka pots safe to use?
Moka pots are safe when the safety valve is clear, the gasket seals properly, and the coffee is not packed into the basket. Most problems come from clogged grounds, overfilling past the valve, or leaving the pot on heat after it finishes.
What to Check First
Never cover the safety valve with water.
Do not tamp moka pot grounds.
Remove from heat as soon as the flow turns pale or sputtery.
