A Mazzer Mini setting is a dial reference for one grinder, not a transferable recipe. Identify the exact Mini variant before copying adjustment or dosing instructions.
Which Mini do you have?
Read the model plate and match it to the manual. A doser model collects grounds for dispensing; a direct-to-portafilter model has a different dosing routine. Do not assume Mini, Mini Electronic and Mini g share the same burrs, buttons or dose controls. A timer setting is not automatically a weight-based dose.
Mazzer's official domestic manual hub lists Mini and Mini g separately. Use the applicable manual and contact Mazzer or your dealer if an older variant is missing.
Which direction is finer?
Follow the finer/coarser markings and adjustment procedure for your exact unit. Do not rely on a blanket clockwise rule, particularly when comparing a view from above with a photograph taken from another angle. Respect the manual's instructions about motor operation and adjustment locks. Do not force the burrs into contact.
Find your espresso setting
- Use the maker's starting guidance, a basket-appropriate dose and a chosen beverage weight.
- Weigh the grounds that actually reach the basket; a timed dose or doser lever does not guarantee an identical weight after changing grind.
- If the shot runs too quickly for your recipe, make a small permitted move finer. If it stalls, stop and try coarser. Keep dose and preparation steady while comparing.
- Record the dial reference, dose, yield and taste. Recheck the dose after adjustment and refine the recipe to taste.
Switching beans and maintenance
Account for grounds remaining in a doser and grind path when changing beans. The amount depends on the model and routine; this guide does not assign a universal purge weight or claim zero carryover. Follow the manual's cleaning steps and isolate power before any permitted access.
Inspect burr condition through the manufacturer's service guidance instead of replacing burrs at an invented universal shot count. If adjustments no longer give useful changes, check preparation and cleanliness first, then ask a qualified service provider about the exact unit.
