KINGrinder K2 Grind Settings: How to Adjust Finer or Coarser
To make the KINGrinder K2 grind bigger, remove the catch cup and turn the internal spin dial anti-clockwise. Turning the K2 dial clockwise makes the grind finer.
How to make the KINGrinder K2 grind coarser (bigger)
The KINGrinder K2 has an interior adjustment, not an external dial. KINGrinder's interior-adjustment instructions, which cover the K0, K1, K2, K3 and K5, say to rotate the spin dial anti-clockwise for a coarser grind and clockwise for a finer one.
- Pull off the grounds receiver (catch cup) to expose the K2 spin dial under the burr.
- Hold the handle so the burr shaft cannot rotate.
- Turn the spin dial anti-clockwise, counting clicks, until you reach the coarser setting you want.
- Refit the receiver and grind a small test dose.
Finding zero on the KINGrinder K2 internal dial
KINGrinder K2 click counts only make sense from a fixed zero. The KINGrinder instructions define zero as the point where the spin dial, turned clockwise with the handle held, is tightened. Stop at gentle resistance rather than forcing the burrs together, then count every click anti-clockwise from that zero, including full rotations. KINGrinder K2 click reference and step size
KINGrinder's K2 product page states that each K2 click moves the grind by 18 microns, so ten clicks shift the K2 setting by roughly 180 microns. The comparison chart on the KINGrinder website, checked September 28, 2026, gives these K2 references, counted from zero:

Why the KINGrinder K2 dial number is not the click count
KINGrinder warns that the number printed on an interior-adjustment dial such as the K2's may not equal the number of clicks from zero. A K2 recipe written as a dial number is therefore hard to reproduce, while a K2 recipe written as "70 clicks from zero" is repeatable. Record the total K2 click count for each brewer you use.
How the KINGrinder K2 differs from the KINGrinder K6
The KINGrinder K6 adjusts with an external numbered dial on top of the grinder, while the K2 adjusts from underneath, inside the catch cup.
