How KINGrinder K2 and K6 grind adjustment differs

The KINGrinder K2 uses an interior adjustment: you remove the catch cup, hold the handle, and turn a spin dial under the burr, clockwise to zero and anti-clockwise to go coarser. The KINGrinder K6 uses an exterior adjustment: you turn the dial on top of the grinder, gently clockwise to zero and anti-clockwise for coarser. KINGrinder warns that the printed dial number may not equal the clicks counted from zero, so K2 and K6 owners should both record total clicks from zero.

KINGrinder K2 or K6 for espresso

For espresso, the KINGrinder K6 has two practical advantages over the K2. The first is step size: KINGrinder lists 16 microns per click on the K6 against 18 microns on the K2, giving the K6 slightly finer control when dialling in a shot. The second is access: espresso usually needs repeated small grind changes, and the K6 top dial can be turned without removing the catch cup, while every K2 change means taking off the receiver and reaching under the burr. The KINGrinder K2 can still be set fine enough for espresso, but each adjustment takes more handling.

KINGrinder K2 vs K6 for daily filter coffee and travel

For daily pour-over, AeroPress or French press, where one setting is often left alone for weeks, the KINGrinder K2 internal dial is less of a drawback. The K2 costs about a third less than the K6 on KINGrinder's UK store, and KINGrinder markets both the K2 and the K6 for travel and outdoor use, so the K2 is simply the lower-priced travel option. The K6's larger 25–30 g hopper matters if you regularly grind bigger doses for a two-cup brew; the K2's 20–25 g hopper covers a typical single mug.
